There is a famous verse in Purana to describe the greatness of Venkateswara Temple or Tirupati Balaji Temple, and that is “Venkatadri Samasthanam Brahmande Nasti Kinchana----- Venkatesha Samo Devo Na Bhuto Na Bhavishyati”- It means there is no sacred place like Venkatadri (Tirumala) and no god-like “Balaji.”  Lord Balaji in this temple is the incarnation of Vishnu and popularly called “Swami Venkateswara” in South. The sanctity of this pilgrimage is mentioned highly in shastras. As per different Holy Scriptures like Varaha Purana, Padma Purana, Garuda Purana, Vamana Purana, Harivamsa Purana, Skanda Purana, Rig Veda, etc. the worship of Venkateswara is the only way to get salvation or Mukti in this Kali Yuga. Tirupati Balaji temple is the richest and most visited temple in the world. Around 80,000 pilgrims visit this temple daily.

Tirupati Balaji temple is located in the Tirumala hill town. It is the part of Tirupati in Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh.Tirumala hills comprise of 7 peaks representing seven heads of Adisesha. This temple is situated on the seventh hills known as “Venkatadri” and on the southern bank of holy temple tank “Swami Puskarini.”. It is mentioned in Varaha Purana that “Swami Venkateswara” abode on the bank of this puskarini.
